Apparently the Mustang is borked, so no one has to worry about being run down for the time being. Fingers crossed that it’s nothign expensive, since my mum loves this car. 16 years and not even 70,000 kilometres later, I think this is its first trip on a flatbed.

Plot twist: The Mustang has taken control over the flatbed.

No clue. The only information I got from my mum was that it won’t start. The battery is good, but other than that, I have no clue.

Battery drain?

Why didn’t she look into it a little more before paying for a tow?

Is the battery “it cranks” good, or “it passes a load test” good?

Battery was charged and the car had power, it just wasn’t turning over. CAA took a look at it, they couldn’t figure out what it was, so off to the shop it goes. She thinks it’s the fuel pump.

“Good” as in all the lights come on, passed a load test, and jumping it did nothing to help. She thinks it might be the fuel pump.

That’s a possibility.

At some point in the near future, I’m being given a ‘00 Mustang convertible which has been in the family since new. I don’ think anything has ever broken on that car to my knowledge.

Yeah, it’s been dead reliable. Other than a dead battery last winter, it’s been great.

Yeah, could be. Is the flatbed bringing it home, or are you having a shop do the diagnosing?

They also sound pretty decent. Reminds me a lot of the 4.6 in that sense.

Shop is going to be diagnosing. Mum doesn’t have any tools for it at the moment, she’s not much of a mechanic type, and I’m 400 kilometres away and can’t really help out right now.

Is yours going to be the V6 or the V8? Word of advice with the V6: it’s not that powerful, and having the A/C on while going up hill can actually be a problem.

V6, the AC is busted regardless.
